Jamaican dancehall musician and actor Louie “Original Don Dada” Rankin has reportedly passed away. According to TMZ, the Grammy Award-winning artist was the victim in a tragic car accident in Ontario, Canada on Monday (September 30).

Although the details are scare, the accident reportedly involved a transport truck and another vehicle. An official announcement was later made via Twitter.

“It saddens us to have to announce that The “ORGINAL DON DADA” “Trail Blazer” the legend – Louie Ox Rankin passed away this morning!” the tweet read. “May God keep his soul with his father, sister and neice in #heaven #amen #sipox.”

Rankin released the album Showdown in 1992 and one of the singles from the project, “Typewriter,” ultimately won a Grammy Award.

Rankin also played Jamaican drug kingpin “Ox” in the 1998 cult classic Belly alongside DMX, Nas, Method Man and Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins of TLC, which served as Hype Williams’ film directing debut.

Nas and Rankin reunited in DJ Khaled’s “Nas Album Done” video in 2016. Other film credits include 2002’s Shottas and 2014’s We Run These Streets.
