New York, NY

It’s been a while since Young M.A dropped a project, but the Kings County native is reminding fans that new music is around the corner. On Wednesday, she swung by DJ Funkmaster Flex’s radio show and effortlessly dropped bars, giving fans lyrical foreplay before her anticipated album.

Flex opens the freestyle with a promo about his rap cipher. Once he hands it over to DJ Juanito and the record spins, M.A equably goes in the kill. “The queen of Brooklyn, n***a, let’s get it / That’s ‘kween’ with a ‘K’ ’cause I’m a king, too / That’s Kings County, I’ma show you what this queen do.”

In her second round, she spoke honestly about why she fell off the face of the earth. “I been laying low lately, Yeah I did some shows lately / Can’t lie shit been moving slower like an old lady / But I ain’t broke baby, I just came to get my mind right / Get back on my bully when the / time right, Get back in that limelight / Had to feed the streets like I just walked out of Shoprite / Falling was not right, my apologies, I was in a time of need / I needed some privacy, I needed a prophesy / Couldn’t let my momma see me at my lowest point, but I guess that’s just the pride in me.”

The “OOOUUU” rapper announced her new album Herstory In The Making will release September 27 via M.A Music/3D. The project features producers like Zaytoven, Mike Zombie Antwan “Amadeus” Thompson and NY Bangers, according to Pitchfork.
