Bishop Nehru was only 16 years old when his first official mixtape Nehruvia dropped in 2013.

The New York native wasn’t the typical teenager either — he had an intense appreciation for the golden age of Hip Hop despite being born at the tail end of it. He enlisted DJ Premier, Madlib and DOOM for the project and ultimately went on to do an entire DOOM collaboration in 2014 called NehruvianDOOM.

Six years later, Bishop Nehru is getting ready to drop his eighth official project and follow-up to 2018’sElevators (Act I & II)My Disregarded Thoughts. Once again, he’s recruited Preemo and DOOM for the album.

According to a press release, the album was recorded and engineered in Preemo’s Queens studio and “grounded in trap-leaning bombast, orchestral diversions, astral jazz, spaced-out funk and the sample-heavy beats of Dilla and Madib.”

To coincide with the announcement, Bishop Nehru has shared a visual for one of the singles from the album called “In My Zone,” which is also featured in NBA 2K20. The appropriately titled track finds the now 23-year-old MC brushing off the notion he needs anyone to succeed.

As for the album, he says, “I came up with the title for this record before I’d even started making music. My Disregarded Thoughts was originally planned as the title of my first ever mixtape, but that never happened.

“The reason was, I wanted the project to be as eccentric as possible, but I needed to be in an artistically comfortable place to create that. Now I’m finally in that place, ten years later.”

My Disregarded Thoughts is expected to arrive on November 8.
