HipHopDX Premiere

Zimbabwe-born artist Bantu has worked with a roster of notable artists, including Nicki Minaj, Camila Cabello and Maroon 5.

Now, the Afro pop powerhouse is back with a new video for “Summer Whine” featuring his collaborative partner Dr. Chaii and singer Soaky Siren.

Directed by JD2 and Bantu himself, the visual is basically three and a half minutes of Major Lazer dancer Andranita Smith-Shannon going off.

“Where we’re from in Africa dancing is important,” Bantu tells HipHopDX. “The video captures the essence of someone at a party in their zone and just dancing and forgetting about everybody around them.

“Andranita came through and killed it!! She did the whole video in one take! When she was done, there was literally silence on set. We were all like, ‘Whoa!!!! That was crazy!'”

“Summer Whine” comes from Bantu and Chaii’s forthcoming EP and has one mission in mind — keep summer going.

“This song is for everybody that’s not ready to say goodbye to summer just yet,” Bantu explains. “It’s a club anthem about that moment when the DJ got the right song on, you dancing with ya girl and you don’t want him to switch things up. Our good friend Soaky Siren blessed us with her vocals.”
