Common is back on the corner dropping knowledge and bars in the video for “Hercules,” his collaborative single produced by and featuring vocals from Swizz Beatz.
The song is the Academy Award-winning MC’s lead single from his upcoming 12th studio LP LetLove, which is slated for release on August 30. The album title is derived from his poignant autobiography Let Love Have The Last Word,which was released in May.
The Carrick Moore Gerety-directed video is shot from the perspective of the fictitious security camera in a local convenience store. Common’s one-time collaborator Vince Staples is the store’s cashier and glaringly delighted at the site of a young female patron.
Common then enters the store rapping on his cell phone while shopping. Two masked robbers suddenly enter the store, and Common finds a way to bring justice to the situation with Staples and the girl.

Common also premiered the song on Ebro Darden’s Apple Beats 1 Radio show on Thursday (July 11). During the interview, the Chicago-bred legend described his new album’s sound as a fusion of Marvin Gaye, DJ Premier and Radiohead, and addressed his past beef with Ice Cube.
