Snoop Dogg has been denied entry into Australia following his recent
drug and gun convictions. According to sources, government officials say he “isn’t the sort of bloke” they want in the country.
Snoop encountered similar problems last month when he was refused a visa to enter the UK. Attempts to reverse the decision were unsuccessful and led to the cancellation of the rapper’s UK tour
with Diddy. He will now miss this weekend’s MTV Australian Video Music awards, which he was due to co-host, as a result of not being able to enter the country.
“The reality is…he was given a warning the
last time, he has a whole string of convictions, and, just two weeks
ago I was told he was convicted on a number of charges again and
sentenced to three years’ imprisonment on two, and three years’
imprisonment on another, with five years’ probation and a suspended
sentence,” said Australian Prime Minister Kevin Andrews, confirming Snoop’s denial into the country, on a Sydney radio station this morning.

A spokeswoman for Andrews said
the rapper/actor had already received warning when he last visited
the country in February, with the Department of Immigration cautioning him that if he was convicted of anything else, he could
jeopardize future trips to Australia.
She added, “Since that time he has been convicted of drug and firearm
offenses, which has effectively caused the minister to be particularly
reluctant to provide a visa for him.”
Snoop recently escaped a jail term after pleading no contest to charges of sale or
transportation of marijuana and possession of a gun, he already has a 1990 felony conviction for possession of drugs for sale, he was charged with possession of a deadly
weapon after he was caught carrying a collapsible baton through airport
security, last November, and he was arrested in Stockholm for
suspected narcotics use, last March.
