Will Smith stopped by the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon on Monday (May 6) to race magic carpets and talk about his role as Genie in the upcoming Aladdin film.
The Instagram legend shared his initial dismay towards reprising the character of Genie after “Robin Williams smashed that role.” Smith claims one of the convincing reasons was his Questlove-assisted reinterpretation of the song, “Friend Like Me” for the Guy Ritchie-directed film.
Prior to a race between the two on motorized magic carpets, Smith and Fallon discussed the movie star’s 50 birthday helicopter bungee jump over the Grand Canyon.
According to Forbes, the (unreported) big budget live-acton remake is already tracking to make between $70 million and $90 million over the Memorial Day weekend release.

Aladdin opens May 24 and is only one of several Smith-starring films slated to hit theaters in the next couple of years, including his role in Ang Lee’s Gemini Man and long-awaited reprise of Mike Lowrey in Bad Boys For Life.
Smith recently made headlines for his positive reaction towards Morgan Cooper’s viral trailer for BEL-AIR, a dramatic reinterpretation of the ’90s sitcom.
