Long Live Nipsey Hussle

On March 31, Nipsey Hussle lost his life after being shot up to six times outside his Marathon clothing store by a 29-year-old man named Eric Holder. The Hip Hop community mourned as news of his untimely passing spread.

The Grammy Award-nominated rap star, born Ermias Asghedom, is survived by his two-year-old son Kross Asghedom, whom he shares with ATL actress Lauren London, and daughter Emani Asghedom, from a previous relationship. He was 33.

Eventually, London broke her silence as well as his older brother, Samiel Asghedom, who actually found him lying in front of the store ahead of paramedics arrival. He detailed those final moments with the Los Angeles Times.

Holder is due in court May 10. He was charged with murder, two counts of attempted murder and one count of possession of a firearm by a felon on Thursday (April 4) and pleaded not guilty. He is being represented by O.J. Simpson prosecutor Christopher Darden.

Nipsey’s funeral is set take place at the Staples Center on Thursday (April 11).

SWAT Team Raids Mally Mall’s Home

SWAT, FBI and California Department of Fish & Wildlife raided producer Mally Mall‘s mansion on Wednesday (April 3). He’s been accused of multiple sexual assaults, human sex trafficking and the importation of exotic animals.

The rape allegations stem from a Texas woman Mally flew out in January. She alleged he drugged, raped and locked her up in a room.

Authorities have yet to arrest him, however.

Russell Simmons Calls For EVERYONE To Participate In Black Divinity Meditation Day

Russell Simmons called on everyone to support Black Divinity Meditation Day on Saturday (April 6) and Sunday (April 7). He explained to HipHopDX in an exclusive interview why.

“The purpose of Black Meditation Day is a day of self-reflection,” Simmons tells HipHopDX. “When we know the self, we know God. This self-knowledge is critical for all people. People of color all over the world have had an especially difficult time. Due to colonialism and slavery, they have been cut off from their culture, religion and, in many cases, self-love.”
