Dame Dash is being sued for $7 million over defamatory social media comments.

According to The Blast, director Josh Webber sued Dash after allegedly losing money due to the Hip Hop mogul’s online comments. Both men are currently in an ongoing legal battle over a movie the two worked on together.

The film in question, Dear Frank, is directed by Webber and produced by his company Muddy Water Pictures. Dash had been directing alongside Webber until he was fired from the project in 2018 for allegedly behaving irrationally and being high on the set. Earlier this year, Webber took the Roc-A-Fella Records co-founder to court because Dash began marketing Dear Frank, which Dash was calling The List, as his own movie despite no longer being a part of the film.

Dash took the beef to Instagram when he posted about The List, writing, “I was going to deal with this later but I guess I’ll have to deal with it now…this is the movie the list #thelist that I directed and produced about a year ago… @muddfilms is pretending he owns this film and @joshawebber (pure culture vulture) is pretending he directed this movie.

“I’m letting you know now we will be legally dealing with this and any one that touches this film before this is handled will be exposed legally as well… and I know @officialcshort @claudiajordan @brianjwhite @torreihart would never ever check for anything but the truth and only the truth cause it looks like you all are gonna have to tell it… #staytuned.”

Webber retaliated with his own post, claiming, “He was HIRED by @muddfilms to ‘Direct’ the film #thelist originally as a ‘celebrity’ Director. I was the producer of the film and asked to ensure that it actually got made by ghost directing certain aspects.

“Dame has no idea what directing a movie actually is or takes and was constantly yelling at crew members/cast, berating people on set, smoking weed and basically sleeping at the wheel. Then while in the process of finishing the film, Dame was being a hot head with the studio executive producer/financier stepping out of line and finally got FIRED!!”

Webber claims that due to Dash’s actions and defamatory comments, he’s lost a $6 million investment on one project, which court documents say “specifically references the actions of Dash as the reason the contract was terminated.” He also allegedly lost another gig that would’ve paid $275,000.

For future losses, Webber is seeking an additional $565,000 — a dollar for every one of Dash’s Instagram followers and YouTube subscribers.

In total, the lawsuit is demanding Dash pay $6.84 million to Webber and $565,000 to Muddy Water Pictures.
