At Meek Mill’s Motivation Tour stop in Houston, Mayor Sylvester Turner officially dubbed February 24 “Meek Mill Day,” as a way to reward the rapper for his recent prison reform movements.
In the last month Meek Mill, JAY-Z, Robert Kraft, and others have been busy with CEO Van Jones’ REFORM Alliance, a coalition that aims to change incarceration laws with a focus on probation and parole.
The honor comes just days after Meek Mill also won public opinion votes in his Twitter beef with Michael Rapaport that placed him as an all-time Philly rapper.
Meek Mill isn’t the first rapper to be awarded with a holiday by Mayor Turner, as Houston native Travis Scott was given his own “Astroworld Day” when the second leg of his tour stopped in Houston February 13.
Meek Mill’s Motivation Tour continues Tuesday in Phoenix.
Houston hold this L
Ridiculous. He would still be in jail if he wasn’t famous. A career probation violator has his own day, cool. Hey kids, if you fuck up and are let out of prison and fuck up again and again and again and are famous, you get your own day. Aspire to be that guy.
Every day in February should be dedicated to an African-American figure. But Meek Mill though?
