In the wake of a successful Paid Dues Festival this past weekend in San Bernardino, California, Murs has announced a tour for some of the acts on the bill. The tour is set to hit ten different cities this year. According to his announcement, the tour will begin in New York on July 28, and it will end August 11.
“I am so overwhelmed and proud of the success we have had. When I say we, I mean all of us together in this weird, crazy, beautiful, multicultural mess we call a scene. Good music is gonna take over the world with our help. Which brings me to the announcement my dumb, over emotional ass forgot to make last night,” he wrote on his MySpace page.
“Paid Dues is going on tour this summer. Starting July 28th in NYC, at Rock the Bells and ending at Rock The Bells in LA Aug. 11th. In between I’ve heard mention of a Denver show, a MPLS show, an AZ show a Seattle date and more cities in the works. There will be 10 dates in all. So plan on making one or making a few or making them all eff it. It’s summer and it ‘s gonna be dope!”
Platinum-selling songstress Keyshia Cole and Bay Area emcee EA Ski are set to perform live at the Boost Mobile RockCorps (BMRC) event this April 9th. The show, taking place at San Francisco’s “The Grand,” will be put on for young volunteer workers in the area who sacrificed 4 hours of their time in order to earn tickets. Over 16,000 youths volunteered, cleaning debris and planting greenery for a seat at the exclusive concert.
Cole‘s sophomore LP Just Like You is scheduled for a May 27th release on A&M Records, and will not be under Kanye West‘s GOOD Music due to contractual constraints.
Last night, in a failed robbery attempt, Power Hittas/Atlantic artist DG Yola was shot in the face while he was in his vehicle stopped at a red light. The bullet went through one cheek and out the other. DG Yola is currently recovering at an Atlanta hospital, where doctors are optimistic that he will make a full and speedy recovery. “He is already up and about and writing. Yola ain’t gonna let up,” his family said in a statement. “We respectfully request privacy and appreciate the well wishes and prayers of Yola’s fans during this time.”
DG Yola‘s debut album, “Gutta World,” is scheduled to be released this June.
