HipHopDX Premiere

Obie Trice has joined Omaha-based rapper Kontages for the new video “All On Me.” Directed by Aaron Gum, the comedic video finds the Shady Records affiliate rocking a wig, fur coat and glasses while delivering some seething bars.

Meanwhile, Kontages rattles off his verses and easily harnesses the vibrant energy of the track.

Kontages admits it took awhile for the collaboration to actually happen.

“Obie Trice was on the Cheers To The Hangover Tour and I was opening for him at the The Waiting Room in Omaha,” Kontages tells HipHopDX. “Obie and I were chilling backstage and I brought up how I’d like to work with him. He gave me his manager’s email and phone number and that was that. Now, I still didn’t think it would happen. I mean, this is Obie Trice.

“A few months later, we decided to reach out to him about a song and music video. First, his management wanted to see a music video that we’ve done so we showed him ‘Contagious’ featuring Krizz Kaliko. Then they asked to hear the song, so we sent over the track with the hook and empty verses. Then, they wanted to hear my verse on the track so we sent that over. Now this back and forth email took place over a few months as well. After we sent my verse over, Obie agreed to do it and fly into town to shoot the video.”

The rest is history.
