New York, NY

W Hotels is tapping into the music industry with its new label, W Records.

The first artist signed to the hospitality giant’s label is R&B songwriter and producer Amber Mark, whose first single for W Records is a cover of “High On Your Love” by Kings Go Forth.

A reworking of her 2017 3:33am cut “Can You Hear Me” is expected to be released next. Both songs were recorded in the W Sound Suite at W Hollywood this past summer.

The move comes after the release of herConexão EP and bubbling single “Put You On” featuring DRAM, which is inching towards a million plays on YouTube.

Soon, W Records is expected to announce the signing of three more artists. All signed artists will have the privilege of being guided through the entire album-making process with access to coveted resources such as a recording space, video shoot locations, mixing and mastering support and distribution.

W Records artists will also have “direct exposure” to the millions of guests who visit Marriott locations globally.

“It represents a complete 360-degree approach to our innovative music programming — one in which we support emerging talent, provide them a place to record, distribute their music and act as a live venue,” W’s global brand leader Anthony Ingham said in a press release.

A few W Hotels locations already have recording studios available for use by artists, so it appears to be a natural step for the company to try its hand at becoming a label.
