New York, NY

The legendary Eric B. and Rakim recently sat down with Mass Appeal at Mikey Likes It ice cream shop in New York City. In honor of Hip Hop’s 45th birthday, they were tasked with naming their Top 5 Hip Hop songs.

Eric. B started off first and listed Sugar Hill Gang’s “Rapper’s Delight.” Rakim was up next and rattled off Grandmaster Flash and the Furious 5’s “The Message,” T La Rock’s “It’s Yours” and JAY-Z’s “Hard Knock Life.”

As Rakim looks to his partner-in-crime, Eric B. seems momentarily stumped. “There’s so many,” he says. “Nas, Jay like you said, LL, Run-DMC.”

Finally, Rakim jumps in with M.O.P. “Ante Up” and calls it “the illest record ever.”
