Offset’s attorney, Drew Findling, believes his client was targeted by police for being black and successful. According to TMZ, Findling says the Migos rapper didn’t break any laws and maintains pulling him over for an improper lane change was a reach.
“It’s a common theme,” Findling told TMZ. “We’re talking about a young, African-American man driving a shiny, beautiful luxury car and clad in designer clothes and watches and jewelry.
“Unfortunately, people in his genre become a target for law enforcement who think that lifestyle is connected to some illegal activity … and that is a sad statement.”
The 26-year-old was arrested on Friday (July 20) just outside of Georgia after authorities reportedly found three handguns, marijuana and $107,000 in the Porsche 911 he was driving.

Subsequently, Offset was charged with two felonies and two misdemeanors, including possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of a weapon during a crime, possession of marijuana (one ounce or less) and an improper lane change.
Findling, who has represented Gucci Mane, Trippie Redd and Katt Williams in the past, reportedly thinks the entire incident was an attempt to take Offset down.
He told TMZ his client was not in possession of any firearm. Rather, it was Offset’s assistant — a licensed gun holder — who had the weapons in the car. Findling explained Offset needs protection because of the large amounts of cash he typically carries and expensive jewelry he often wears.
Offset’s wife, Cardi B, revealed her husband was out of jail on Saturday (July 21). He reportedly posted $17,000 bail. [apple_news_ad type=”any”]
