New York, NY

Lil Kim celebrated her birthday on Wednesday (July 11) by dropping her latest single, “Nasty One,” which pays more than a slight tribute to her Brooklyn-by-way-of-West-Indies roots.

Even though the raps about the juicy kitty-kat are the standard Queen Bee fare, Lil Kim opts for more singing rather than rapping while giving it a distinctly Caribbean flavor (à la “Lighters Up”).

The song also borrows a stanza from the classic Bad English rock track, “When I See You Smile.”

“Nasty One” is the first single off her as-yet-untitled fifth studio album, which will be released by EOne music reportedly in November 2018. Her last studio album, The Naked Truth, was released in 2005 shortly before her highly publicized stint in prison.
