Queens, New York’s own up-and-coming rap star Mocha Bands is paving her own way in Hip Hop. In the music video for her song “Longevity,” Mocha shows off her ability to rhyme with precision.

At only 19 years old, the budding MC hopes to stake claim among the Hip Hop greats who inspire her. “Longevity” is the next step for Mocha, following the debut of her 2017 project The Year of Mocha. She also stars in the Netflix show The Get Downand played the role of Karen Williams on FOX’s hit show STAR.

“As a lyricist, I strive to influence the Hip Hop world and to be remembered decades from now,” Mocha tells DX. “Similar to the various artists that I’ve grown to respect, such as JAY-Z, Lauryn Hill, Nas and Biggie Smalls.  I want my music career to have a long life, which is why I chose the title of my song to be ‘Longevity.'”
