Kevin Hart’s meteoric rise over the years has expectantly afforded him some invaluable relationships along the way.

That includes fellow comedian/actor Tiffany Haddish, who is also enjoying escalator style success since her breakout role in 2017’s Girls Trip.

The two are set to star in the upcoming fall comedy, Night School, and while visiting Jimmy Kimmel Live, Hart explained just how rooted their friendship dates back.

“I knew Tiffany when Tiffany was homeless. Tiffany was living out of her car and nobody knew. She was trying to keep it a secret,” Hart told Kimmel, assuring the host it wasn’t a story with LOL punchline. When Haddish couldn’t come up with a logical answer as to where she laid her head, that’s when Kevin figured out she was living out of her car.

“And I was nowhere near [of course] Kevin Hart today and in my pocket, I had $300 and I was like, ‘Here. I don’t know what your situation is, but hopefully this can do something for you in this time because I feel like you’re not telling me something.'”

“I later found out that the money she took, she went and got like a motel, was able to stay there for like a week, use a proper bathroom. Never told me,” he said. “Never told me for years. Other people muttered the rumor. Tiffany got successful, took the story, I found out that [ex-wife Torrei Hart] wrote in her journal about the relationship with me and her. How I acted as a piece of motivation in stand-up comedy because I simply uplifted her every time we saw her. Told her she was funny. Told her she was going to be a star.”

Hart and Kimmel later joked about Haddish never paying back the money but the underlying message was how real comedians stick together, for it is such a tough business.

As of now, business is extremely good for the 38-year-old Hart. Earlier today (June 1), Live Nation revealed he set a touring record with The Kevin Hart Irresponsible Tour by becoming the first U.S. comedian to sell one million tickets in less than six months.

Night School arrives in theaters on September 28 and also stars Insecure’s Yvonne Orji, Romany Malco, Keith David and a cameo from Fat Joe.
