Mary J. Blige will follow up
her impressive nine wins at the Billboard Music Awards with hopefully
somewhere near the same amount at the Grammy’s. The R&B singer was
nominated for eight Grammy’s this morning in Los Angeles as the nominees were announced. She is up for song of the year, best R&B album of the year for ”
The Breakthrough”. The awards ceremony will be held February 11th, 2007 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, televised by CBS.
Also noteworthy, the 17 yr-old ‘Run It’ phenom, Chris Brown was nominated in the best new artist category and best R&B album as well,
Blige’s song “Be Without You” will face Danger Mouse, Cee-Lo and their hit, ”
Crazy” for best song of the year.
Black Eyed Peas are up for pop performance of the year with
My Humps and Pharrell, The Roots, T.I., Lupe Fiasco and Ludacris
will face off for Best Rap Album. Surprisingly, Young Joc faces Pharrell/Ludacris’
Money Maker, the King T.I. with What You Know, Chammillionaire
for Ridin and Lupe for Kick, Push.
Eminem and
Akon will face himself and Nate Dogg for two very similar songs, Smack That
and Shake That alongside Beyonce and Jay-Z’s Deja Vu
, Justin Timberlake and T.I’s My Love as well as Jamie Foxx
and Ludacris for Unpredicatable. Best rap performance by a duo nominations went to Ludacris &
Field Mobb for the Ray Charles inspired, “Georgia”, Chammilionaire and
Krayzie Bone, Nelly, Paul Wall, Ali and Gipp for
Grillz, Outkast for The Mighty O and The Roots again for, Don’t Feel Right.

T.I and Mos Def.
