Back in 2007, soul singer Nikki Jean got her big break as the hookwoman on Lupe Fiasco’s now classic single, “Hip-Hop Saved My Life.”
Fast forward to the present day, the Midwesterners are still back at it, this time via Nikki’s new single, “Mr. Clean,” which employs production by the game’s secret weapon, Jake One.
The Grammy-nominated songwriter debuted the sparkling record on Shade45/SiriusXM’s Sway in the Morning and broke down its meaning.
“I’ve met the same man with different faces, many many times…” she explained. “This song is dedicated to him. The one that would leave me fucked up and crying if I gave him half a chance… And we don’t give him chances no more.”
