Kobe Bryant has addressed Kanye West’s slavery comments, and needless to say, he’s just as confused as the rest of us.
The retired basketball great was speaking to a group of students in Los Angeles when he was asked what he thought about West’s “slavery is a choice” comments.
Bryant told the 14-year-old student that his initial response was to ask himself, “what the hell are you talking about?” and said that this was probably the reaction that the rest of us had, as well.

He then went on to clarify that “completely disagreed” with West’s statements, but was also quick to add that he was entitled to say whatever he felt was right because “that’s the beautiful part about living in a democracy.”
Bryant then said that, conversely, when you say what you want to say, you have to be willing to accept what others say in response, “because everyone has the right to say what they feel.” He said that West is someone who is doing “a lot of questioning” about himself and using that questioning to elevate his thought process.
“So I just take it for what it is, and completely disagree,” Bryant concluded.
