The awards ceremony will be hosted by DJ Red Alert, and will celebrate and honor DJs for breaking new records and artists, as well as creating a promotional tool for indie artist, as well as established acts.

Additionally, during this year’s ceremony, new categories will be introduced: Best International DJ, Best Reggaeton Mixtape DJ, Best Reggae Mixtape DJ and Best Mashup Awards.
The only known of it’s kind, the Mixtape Awards was founded and created by Justo Faison. Sadly, Faison was killed in a car accident in 2005, leaving many in the hip-hop industry stunned and in disbelief, but the award show will go on in his name.
