Skyzoo has unleashed his much-anticipated album, In Celebration of Us.

Featuring production from Illmind, Apollo Brown, Daringer, Mark Nfinit and more, the veteran MC serves up 15 tracks showing why he still has one of the strongest pen games around. There are no rap features because, in Sky’s own words, “I got enough raps.”

Skyzoo’s fourth solo LP – dubbed his “most complex, most layered, and most important work to date” – is described by him as “Ta-nehisi Coates meets Chappelle’s Show meets The Autobiography of Malcolm X meets Blackish meets the case of Sandra Bland meets the Birth of Air Jordans.”

Skyzoo will release his In Celebration Of Us album on February 2, but he’s now offering fans a preview of what’s to come. The veteran MC, whose Peddlers Themes project was named one of HipHopDX’s Best Mixtapes and EPs Of 2017, dropped a 13-minute sampler of his upcoming LP.

“On this album, I wanted to tap into the present, more so than any other album of mine as far as full projects,” Skyzoo told Billboard, which premiered the sampler. “Music of the times is the best way to describe it.

“From cultural appropriation and gentrification to police brutality and the irony of motives behind bigger motives, it’s an album that explores who we are and why we are where we are in society, as a people. What’s been done to us and what we’ve done to ourselves, mainly out of confused necessity, all while celebrating us in the process.”

Skyzoo is beginning the new year with the official rollout of his next album. After releasing Peddlers Theme this past summer, the critically acclaimed MC has announced details for his follow-up, In Celebration Of Us.

In an Instagram post, Skyzoo unveiled the cover art and tracklist for the upcoming LP. The project, which he calls his most important work to date, has a tentative release date of February 2.

“And here we go, the countdown to my 4th solo album,” Skyzoo wrote. “Easily my most complex, most layered, and most important work to date, no debates. My greatest piece thus far: In Celebration of Us. Produced by Illmind, Apollo Brown, Daringer, Marc Nfinit, Cardiak, Tuamie, Ave Prod., Seige Monstracity, and Arte Mitchell. No rap features, I got enough raps. These are stories that, like The Salvation, I preferred to tell on my own. Tracklist and (singer) guest features below. Tentatively scheduled for February 2nd, as I’m still mixing and mastering. I’ve never been this meticulous about an album in my life. Conceptually, this is Ta-nehisi Coates meets Chappelle’s Show meets The Autobiography of Malcolm X meets Blackish meets the case of Sandra Bland meets the birth of Air Jordans. It’s intense. And it’s beautiful. See y’all in February.”
