Sunday 10/15: Talib Kweli, Nice and Smooth, Bumpy Nuckles Jean Grae and Pharaoh Monch performed at the Nokia theatre in New York City. I didn’t go but my sources told me the show was really good. There were guest appearances by Dana Dane and the Beatnuts. The only disappointment was that Lupe Fiasco, who was also on the bill, didn’t show up for undisclosed reasons.
Monday 10/16: Jay-Z announced that he has teamed up with Anheuser Busch. He has been appointed co-brand director for Budweiser Select and started appearing in the company’s commercials today. The commercials can most likely been seen on Fox and during Monday Night Football on ESPN.
Tuesday 10/17: Fabolous got shot and arrested. No comment.
In other news, I went to a dope event at Fashion 40 in New York City. Kool Herc was honored and given the keys to his newly pimped out car, also known as The Blue Butterfly. This event was the brainchild of Sean “Ope” Williams of MTV and Unlimited Vinyl Ink. Williams said, “I did it because the situation presented itself and who doesn’t want to give back to the man that gave birth to a Multi-Billion dollar industry? We’ve been brothers ever since this project began. That’s priceless,” when explaining why he put this event together. Williams, who also works with Plush, an automotive lifestyle magazine, was able to enlist the help of Wheel Concepts to hook up the car. Not only was cool Herc in the building (obviously) but also Roxanne Chanté, as well as Grandmaster Caz. New Jacks, Fresh Daily, Substantial and Agallah (Purple City) also blessed the stage with their talents. Williams says there are plans to hopefully unveil a car for a legend every year. I think it’s a great idea. Overall, I had a nice time and I’m glad to have been there, paying my respects to Hip-Hop pioneers. I would also like to give a shout out to fellow journalist, Adam B. For once I wasn’t the only one with a notepad in the middle of a club, jotting down notes. For pictures of this event, visit www.alltheparties.com
Another cool event tonight was a birthday event for Jean Grae’s mom. She celebrated her 70th birthday at Sweet Rhythm in Manhattan. For those who may not know, her mom is a jazz singer. I didn’t get to go, but judging from Jean Grae’s vocal talents (she sings on her albums), I’m sure her mom was really good.

Wednesday 10/18: Reports came in today that Redman, along with comedian Doug Benson, will be hosting High Times Magazine’s 2006 Stony Awards. The Stony Awards salutes the best in weed-influenced movies, TV shows, music, et al.
Thursday 10/19: Evil Dee, Raks One, DJ Razor, DJ Ease, Broadway Boy Ace and Fresh Daily performed in Philly. It was Ashley’s birthday party at Fluid. Who is Ashley? I don’t know either but I checked out her myspace page and I think she’s just a Hip-Hop head who wanted some affordable, talented artists at her birthday party.
Friday 10/20: Afeni Shakur announced the coming of another Tupac album. The album entitled, Pac’s Life is will be released on Nov. 21. I like Tupac but I’m not excited. I think the posthumous releases should stop already.
Saturday 10/21: D-Block has teamed up with New York-based record label, Sasso Records to open a car wash and detail center. It’s in Yonkers, of course. The grand opening was today.
