The first ever VH1 Hip-Hop Honors week officially kicked off in New
York City yesterday. Running through Oct. 17, the week is full of
Hip-Hop related events through out the city.
“We hope that everyone will take advantage of the myriad of
opportunities, special Hip-Hop music events and promotions created for
all New Yorkers and visitors to enjoy,” Mayor Bloomberg said in a
statement to VH1.com. “The contributions and influence of the event’s
honorees will be celebrated on the streets of New York City, the
birthplace of Hip-Hop.”
There will be various movie screenings, museum exhibits, city
tours, special performances and special events at restaurants,
including Remy Ma serving at Junior’s, famous for their cheesecake.
“We are proud that VH1 Hip-Hop Honors will take place in the
Big Apple, and it is with great enthusiasm that we join VH1 to pay
tribute to some of Hip-Hop’s original pioneers,” Bloomberg added.
