13 years ago, Hip Hop lost one of its most enigmatic characters in Ol’ Dirty Bastard. In honor of the Wu-Tang Clan member’s birthday, his son Young Dirty Bastard and RZA’s artist Hue Hef have come together for an ODB tribute song titled “Warning Shots.”

“ODB has been and always will be a major part of the glue that makes Wu, Wu,” Mustafa Shaikh, RZA’s business partner and co-founder of 36 Chambers ALC, said. “The first time I worked with YDB was two years on a music video for an unreleased ODB song. It was a fun, entertaining and at times, a bewildering experience. Fast forward two years later and I’m excited to see that he’s starting to take his passion for music seriously. YDB actually crashed our artist Hef’s recording session to get some time in the studio and we got a great song out of it just yesterday. I thought it fitting to put it out for Wu Wednesday.”

The track’s a far cry from the sound most fans associate with Wu-Tang, but Young Dirty Bastard’s style is very reminiscent of his father.
