Sunday 9/24: Today we start off with my brief recap of Flavor of Love. I’m keeping this one brief because I’m a bit grossed out by the episode. Basically, Flav had sex with New York. While they didn’t show it (of course), they played the sound effects, a thought more disturbing than walking in on my parents getting busy.

In other Hip-Hop news, MTP (Meet the Producers) has begun season 2 of their beat battle series. It was held at Axiom Studios in Newark, NJ. Today’s winner was Trin Deez-L. Congratulations homie.

Monday 9/25: Reports came in today that Freddie Foxxx aka Bumpy Knuckles is set to dis Rakim on his new album Black Amerikkka in a song entitled, “The King is Down” Allegedly the beef stems from back in the day when they used to rhyme in groups and both alleged that they wanted to battle but the other one backed down. I don’t know if the latter part of this statement is true, but I’m not really interested in a battle between the two. Are you? Honestly, I don’t want to see Rakim battling. He has absolutely nothing to prove. He’s already a legend. I think he’s been there done that…sort of (remember Rakim and Big Daddy Kane were rumored to have a minor beef going on back in the day). Plus, does anyone really care about Freddie Foxx? That’s a serious question. Any answers?

Tuesday 9/26: Janet Jackson’s latest album, 20 Y.O. dropped today, executive produced by boyfriend Jermaine Dupri. I haven’t really been feeling her new songs much lately. I’m still stuck on the dopeness of The Velvet Rope but will check out her latest effort. She even has a collaboration with Khia. That should be interesting.

Wednesday 9/27
: A memorial service was held for Leftist, an emcee out of the Mindspray Crew (NYC), in Brooklyn (known for their open mics). The Brooklyn rapper was tragically killed in a hit-and-run. I didn’t know him but I heard good things. My condolences to his family and friends

Thursday 9/28
: Pack Fm had his album release party at South Paw in Brooklyn. Celebrating the release of WhutduzFMstand4, he had help from his fellow emcees. Mr. Metaphor and Little Lego (Block McCloud’s son) did their thing repping Brooklyn Academy. And by the way, Little Lego is only 14-years-old and nice with it. He’s doper than a lot of grown emcees and, in about six years, he’s going to be a beast. Also lending their talents were Webbafied (E.O.W.), Big Zoo (E.O.W.), Vice Verses (E.O.W.), Fresh Daily, Svengali (Iron Solomon and Vanguard of E.O.W.), Substantial, Wordsworth (Lyricist Lounge) and Qn5 affiliates, Mr. Mecca and Tonedef. Overall, the show was really good. There was a lot of positive energy and a nice balance of male and female in the crowd, which made everything sweeter. In case you’re wondering, Pack FM’s latest LP is fire! I know what the FM stands for. Do you? I’m not telling.

Friday 9/29: Today is short and sweet. Lupe Fiasco’s album, Food and Liquor is number one on Billboard’s top rap albums chart. Congratulations Lupe.

Saturday 9/30: New Rap Order (N.R.O.) affiliates Supa Nova and Trezure held a video shoot for their latest joint, Black Girl. Celebrating the beauty of black girls everywhere, the song is a laid back, jazzy ode to black females no matter her hue or style. The video is aptly set to look like it’s taking place in a party setting and also features cameos from other N.R.O. affiliates including K-Swift and Cavalier, and Queen GodIs. From the looks of things, the video is going to be as dope as the song. I’ll let you know when the finished product is out.
