Wrekonize Speaks on Roc-a-Fella Fallout

Wrekonize had it made. He won a nationally
televised MTV Battle judged by Damon Dash, Memphis Bleek and other Hip-Hop/Roc-a-Fella
    heavyweights.

His prize? A single on the Roc and a chance
to rock next to the likes of Jay-Z and fellow Roc
    members.

So, what went wrong? Quite frankly, Dash
and Co. simply didn’t live up to their end of the deal, according to Wrek.

“It was supposed to be a vinyl single contract but
they never got in contact with me after the show was over. I went on TRL that
following Monday and still hadn’t heard anything. At that point I realized it
wasn’t going to develop into anything more so I left it at that. I didn’t
really feel like running around trying to squeeze my way onto a roster which didnt
end up releasing alot of its new artists anyway,”
    he
    said exclusively to DX

So, he did what most MCs do when they feel
disrespected: he hit the booth with fury.

“After hearing some of the rumors and reading some
of the net talk, I dropped that “Swollen Tongue” freestyle
which I feel helped a lot because it cleared up alot of misconceptions. I
    wasn’t dissin the
Roc to try and get on. I
just wanted to set the record straight and speak my point of view,”

he told us of the ordeal.

But, he’s bounced back. Currently, he is prepping the
release of his 1st solo LP as well as some side projects.

So, what can listeners expect from Wrek and
what surprise guests will appear on the album?

“My debut album is gonna be a perfect display of
the chaos iIve been through since winning that mtv battle and the changes I’ve
made to my style over the last three years…People can expect to hear a good
mixture of thick production and diverse content….They can also expect to hear
    features from
Ras Kass, Prince Po, Vinia Mojica,
and my labelmates Mayday.I think more than anything i’ll be more proud of what
unexpected qualities people will find on the album,”
    he added of the
    new project.

His LP, The Runaround is expected to hit
store shelves in the 1st quarter of 2007.

    1. Wrekonize has a dope delivery and definitely stepped his game up in the last years. Just listen to what has been released so far from the album. (“We got soul” is great)

I didn’t know about that battle before, but the content of his written stuff is definitely worth listening.
