This week in Soundscan, Justin Timberlake holds off all newcomers and is damn near platinum. FutureSex/Lovesounds sold another 217,000 albums to hold steady at #1 and have him at 902,979 overall. Fergie came on strong with Dutchess and moved 140,000 copies to take hold of the #3 spot while Beyonce‘s B’Day is still moving steadily while holding down the #6 slot (92,000 this week and 795,000 overall).
Chingy‘s Hoodstar barely gets by Lupe Fiasco‘s Food & Liquor. Although Chingy had a #1 single, his album only moved 70k to debut at #8 while Lupe Fiasco pushed 58k to open up at #12. Rick Ross‘ Port of Miami is steady at #27 after 7 weeks on the chart and nearing gold while Gnarles Barkley‘s St. Elsewhere holds tight at #34 with 26k sold this week (943k sold overall). Most people thought Bone Thugs-N-Harmony was done but Thug Stories did well. The album moved 26k and opens impressively at #31.
Young Dro continues to bellyflop. This week the album takes a 25% dip in sales. Best Thang Smokin’ sold just under 21k in its forth week and slightly under 200k overall. Oukast also saw a heavy fall in sales and sold only 18k units as the group struggles to make gold at 370k. Method Man and The Roots continue to move slowly. 4:21 The Day After falls 22 spots to 68 with a paltry 13k sold while Game Theory dropped from 53 to 84 with only 11k sold.
