MTV and Universal Records have announced a deal that will change the way we watch music videos.
As part of their agreement, MTV will create and distribute
full-length music videos and original video programming for mobile
devices from Universal’s catalog of artists.
The network will also produce original programs from its shows such as Sucker Free and VH1’s Live@VH1.com.
“This is a digital deal, and all of this has been in the works for
a long time,” said MTV’s VP of wireless strategies and operations, Greg
Clayman, via a statement. “It’s important to Universal to reach more
viewers, and for us to program more content to our viewers.”
