New York, NY

The third annual STEEZ Day went down in New York City on Friday (July 7) in honor of late Pro Era rapper Capital STEEZ, who took his own life on Christmas Eve 2012. Fellow Pro Era crew mate Joey Bada$$ joined A$AP Mob, The Underachievers, Ab-Soul, J.I.D., Jay IDK on the bill, and also delivered a long-awaited announcement — STEEZ’s posthumous album, King Capital, will be out before the end of the year.

“You know it’s been five years,” the Brooklyn MC told the crowd. “And we just want to say, on December 23, King Capital will officially be dropping. Y’all heard it here first. The most valid source.”

Joey also recently confirmed Pro Era was working on a new collaborative album in an interview with Revolt, the outlet that also live streamed the event.

“Alright, I guess I’ll just let the cat out the bag now” he said. “I think it’s a perfect time to since people think we all not doing anything. We’re working on the album. We’re gonna put out a Pro Era album real soon.

“We back on our shit,” he continued. “I ain’t gonna lie, there was a period of time where we were just really trying to figure it out. Everybody was young. Everybody was growing, becoming adults. We started this shit as kids. We kinda had to allow that grace period for all of us to really fall into ourselves and we’re definitely at that point now and we coming back stronger than ever. This album sounding crazy. I don’t even want to overhype it or do anything, but great stuff. [2017] for sure.”
