The 2017 BET Award nominations dropped Monday (May 15) and despite Chicago rap star Dreezy’s solid showing with her debut album No Hard Feelings and the Platinum-selling “Body” featuring Jeremih, she wasn’t nominated for a single award.

When fans tweeted their surprise that the “We Gon Ride” artist wasn’t nominated, Dreezy said she wasn’t shocked, and explained that the awards aren’t about the music anymore.

In 2014, Dreezy was featured in the BET Hip Hop Award cypher alongside Retro Jace and Andy Mineo, among others. Maybe this year’s BET Hip Hop Awards will have something shiny reserved for the hard-working rap star.

She recently shared her excitement about being part of Issa Rae’s Insecure in an exclusive interview with HipHopDX after her Rolling Loud set. She also talked about being part of Gucci Mane’s Trap God Tour.

The BET Awards’ Best Female Hip Hop Artist category has long been dominated by Nicki Minaj, who has won for the past seven years. This year, Cardi B, Young M.A, Missy Elliot and Remy Ma are all attempting to break the “No Frauds” rapper’s streak. Best New Artist nominations include Cardi B, Young M.A, Khalid, Chance The Rapper and 21 Savage, who featured Dreezy on his Slaughter King cut “Motorcycle” in 2016.

The 2017 BET Awards air June 25 from the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles. Check out the award nominations here.
