Brooklyn DJ/producer J. Period has recruited some of Hip Hop’s finest for the politically charged single, “RISE UP!” which features Black Thought, Pharoahe Monch, Posdnuos and singer Joss Stone. Touching on the current presidency, the song serves as a call for justice, unity, equality, diversity and empathy. Considering the title of the track, it makes sense each artist is trying to evoke a sense of social responsibility for people to truly wake up and take action. The song is taken from the collaborative album, RISE UP! Music Inspired by America Divided, which also includes contributions from artists like Aloe Blacc, Rhymefest and Xzibit. Listen to the track above.
