As the Kendrick Lamar album release madness begins to simmer, the DX Digest for Monday (April 16) has a plethora of options to start the week off right. In the top slot, Lil Yachty and Migos go dark for the “Peek A Boo” visual and a new song from J. Cole, “Want You To Fly,” comes in a close second. K-Dot’s stint at Coachella over the weekend follows, which includes live performances of the DAMN. tracks, “DNA.” and “HUMBLE.” His show precedes Chance The Rapper’s brother, Taylor Bennett, paying tribute to his older brother on his 24th birthday with the track “Only Brother.” Keep scrolling for fresh material from Hopsin, Abstract Rude, Madchild, KAMI, Troy Ave, AK of The Underachievers, and Kokane, as well as an undeniably dope mix celebrating the 25th anniversary of Das EFX’s Dead Serious.
lil yachty & Migos – “peek a boo”
The three members of Migos have joined Lil Yachty as he gets his freak on in the new video for “Peek A Boo,” which is shot in extremely dark lighting with the only color standing out coming from Lil Boat’s signature red braids and multi-colored grill. Directed by Millicent Hailes, the video also features wolves, a bevy of mostly naked women and plenty of expensive jewelry. Watch it above.
j. cole – “Want You To Fly”
In J. Cole’s new documentary, 4 Your Eyez Only, which premiered on HBO over the weekend, footage is seen of the police raiding his North Carolina home, an event that inspired the song “Neighbors.” An extra song also surfaced from the film, which you should listen to before it disappears.
