Days ahead of the release of his next studio album, DAMN, Compton lyricist Kendrick Lamar has met with Minister Louis Farrakhan.

The meeting between Kendrick and the leader of the Nation of Islam was documented in a series of photos Farrakhan shared on Instagram Tuesday (April 11).

In the caption to the photos, Farrakhan praised the rapper and also wrote of a “Cultural Revolution.”

“I was very honored to meet and talk with my powerful brother and Hip-Hop artist Kendrick Lamar. The Cultural Revolution is On,” Louis Farrakhan wrote.

In a separate caption, Farrakhan wrote that “The artistic community has historically been in the vanguard of social change.”

From offering praise to Chicago rhymer Chance The Rapper to discussing the relationship between Kanye West and Kim Kardashian, Farrakhan has been rather vocal as of late when it concerns the Hip Hop community.

The Nation of Islam leader even took part in an interview with The Breakfast Club last year. As part of his conversation with the trio, he discussed solidarity in the black community, touched on consciousness in Hip Hop, and offered praise to Kendrick.

“I’ve never met brother but I see him as a very great thinker. He’s very conscious. His lyrics are tremendous, and the beat. This is the genius of us,” Farrakhan said while speaking on K. Dot.
