DJ/EDM producer Zedd recently organized the WELCOME! At STAPLES Center fundraising concert benefitting the American Civil Liberties Union, which featured an all-star lineup of Bebe Rexha, Camila Cabello, Daya, Halsey, Imagine Dragons, Incubus, Machine Gun Kelly, Macklemore, Miguel, Mija, Skrillex, Tinashe and Zedd himself.
It was a busy Monday night (April 3), as only a handful of artists were able to come through the red carpet. HipHopDX had the pleasure of catching up with the event’s organizer, who was the first to show face.
“I’m basically fighting for people who are in a very similar situation and compromised, as I was, when I moved from Russia to Germany. And I was given the chance to start over my life with my family. And now I moved to America and I’m given the same chance again. And I’m here on a Visa. And hearing that people with a valid Visa got denied just because of who they believe in or what they believe in, or where they’re from, is just wrong.”
Zedd currently has 4.3 million followers on Instagram.

“As somebody with a large audience, I’m responsible to do something about it.”
Recently, Zedd teased a collaboration with rising R&B star Khalid.
“It really happened organically, through Twitter. I listened to his album and I really liked it. I tweeted him that I loved his music, and the next day my manager played him a couple songs I was working on. He really loved one and he recorded it. So now it’s my job to make the song happen.”
Zedd hasn’t started on the record, but stay tuned.
