Chicago, IL

Given that Chance The Rapper fans have already been heavily vocal in their support of the Windy City rhymer running for president in 2020, it’s no surprise that they’re also pushing for the rapper to run for mayor of Chicago.

Chano4Mayor.com, a fan-created website, serves as the latest move to push Chance towards running for political office.

The website is littered with politically and socially-charged lyrics from Chance, including this one from 2013’s “Acid Rain”: “Funerals for little girls is that appealing to you? / From your cubicle desktop what a beautiful view.”

In addition to the occasional Chano lyric, Chano4Mayor.com also includes a handful of factoids on past elections in the city of Chicago. One particular entry takes note of the fact that voter turnout in the city was under 33% at the time of the last election.

An open letter on the website applauds Chance for his recent acts of service in his hometown and expressed confidence in his ability to win the election.

“We think if you ran, you would win…You’re already making change in our city: your work supplying coats for people experiencing homelessness, your long-running Open Mike for high school students, and your million dollar donation to CPS all demonstrate a commitment to empowering Chicago’s marginalized populations,” the open letter reads.

Chance’s various acts of service have not gone unnoticed by those outside of his fanbase.

Last month, it was revealed that the rapper was featured at #46 on Fortune’s World’s Greatest Leaders list. The publication offered kudos to the rapper who they referred to as “a political force as an anti-violence campaigner.”
