The Tuesday (March 28) edition of the DX Digest deems REKS the king with his visual for “H.I.P.H.O.P.,” which is taken from the Boston MC’s last album, The Greatest X, while legendary producer Just Blaze and his 5 Minutes of Funk (or in this case, 12 minutes) performance on Funkmaster Flex’s show represents Hip Hop in its purest form. A freestyle from Joey Bada$$, video from G-Eazy and Carnage, and Syd’s “Treading Water” from the FINsessions round out the top five. Scroll even further for a random remix from R. Kelly, video from Trinidad James featuring the late Bankroll Fresh and The Underachievers’ “Head Right.” Music from Kydd Jones and Kirko Bangz, K Camp and Dae Dae, and J. Tek also make the list.

reks – “h.i.p.h.o.p.”

After delivering his monster album, The Greatest X, in September 2016, REKS is back with a video for one of the project’s 35 tracks, “H.I.P.H.O.P.” Produced by Apollo Brown, the song is an ode to classic Hip Hop and those who have influenced the Boston MC along his journey. “Over the past two and a half years, I have been recording songs with the understanding this would be album number 10 for me and thus something monumental,” REKS said in a press release. With features from notables like Statik Selektah, R.A. The Rugged Man, Moe Pope, Akrobatik, and Edo. G, The Greatest Xcertainly accomplished that. Check out the video above.

just blaze – “5 Minutes of funk”
