Don’t call The Black Eyed Peas a Hip-Hop group. According to Contact Music, the group’s leader Will.I.Am has recently opened up about his disdain for the current climate in the Hip-Hop culture.
So, what does the rapper/producer have to say about Hip-Hop?
“Today’s hip-hop is just angry, negative music that just makes black people look bad,” he explained.
He added that his group was originally a Hip-Hop trio, but that it should not be compared to what Hip-Hop has become.

“When you compare it to today’s standards of what hip-hop is… don’t even call it that, ‘cos that’s, like, an insult,” he says.
On a related note, he was recently involved in a negative and angry moment himself when he was arrested after a bar brawl in Germany. According to All Headline, the rapper and his entourage were involved in a fight with a nightclub security guard after a dispute about capacity in the VIP section of a club.
It is currently unclear as to what Will’s involvement was and reports state the police are still investigating the case.
Currently, the rapper/singer/producer is working on various projects including Diddy’s, Fergie’s and much more. This year, he’s had success for hits he’s produced for Busta Rhymes, The Pussycat Dolls, Sergio Mendez, his own crew The Black Eyed Peas and more.
