Hip Hop Album Sales: Future Takes #1 Spot While Fat Joe & Remy Ma Are Only Some Of The Way Up

While there was some confusion as to who won Best Picture at the Oscars last night, there is no question who runs the rap game this week as Future gets another #1 placement on Billboard’s Top 200. The Weeknd, Migos and Big Sean follow in the Top 10 while Chance The Rapper and Beyoncé still maintain numbers from their Grammy momentum. Jidenna and Fat Joe and Remy Ma make appearances down the chart with the debut of their Chief and Plata o Plomo albums, respectively. But we already knew Remy’s chart-standing…

    Future Is #1 Right Now

Future has scored his third #1 album with FUTURE. The self-titled LP sold an impressive 140,352 equivalent album units with 60,000 album sales and 109 million streams. This is the Atlanta star’s third #1 solo album, following Dirty Sprite 2 and EVOL. His joint project with Drake, What a Time to be Alive, also topped the chart upon its 2015 release.

    Jidenna Debuts At #38

Jidenna nabs the #38 spot with his debut album, The Chief. The project pushed 13,312 units with 8,387 albums and 6 million streams. None of these figures include sales from his hit single “Classic Man,” which does not appear on the album. The song peaked at #22 on the Hot 100 in 2015.

Fat Joe & Remy Ma Are Some Of The Way Up At #44

Fat Joe and Remy Ma’s Plata o Plomo album lands at the #44 spot its debut week with 11,95 units. The Terror Squad rappers failed to deliver on the hype from lead single “All the Way Up,” which got them nominated for the Grammys. The 7,070 album sales and 5.6 million streams were fodder for Nicki Minaj to clap back at Remy after her scathing “SHETHER” diss track. DX wasn’t too impressed with Plata as a whole and gave it a 3.2 rating.

    1. Some of these records have been out for months and still sold more than Remy Ma . New York’s last ditch effort is a Diss record and it never works . #7kSadSales

    2. People don’t listen to real hip hop anymore. That Fat Joe & Remy Ma album is a classic. It needs to go platinum. Fuck that gay ass new school mumble rap for life!

    3. That’s Joe’s fault i remeber Remy arguing bout putting the album out in May or June of last year when All The Way up was everywhere why the fuck they wait till now to put it out? Plus the tracklist on the album looked like garbage horrible features on every track and only like 12 tracks it had flop written all over it

      1. Actually, on The Breakfast Club, Joe said he wanted to drop it in July of last year and Remy wanted to drop it in October (which made zero sense at the time). This definitely isn’t the first time Joe or anyone under Joe had an album released WAY past the prime of the hit singles.

    4. They should’ve worked their asses off to finish that album and shotgun release it when All the Way Up was still hot. One part of me thinks that they waited until after the Grammy’s honestly believing they could ride the success even more if they won. They’re indie, and should not have taken a hit single for granted. They had fucking Jay on the remix….how often does that shit happen these days???

LEMONADE IS A POPULAR DRINK AND IT STILL IS, SURVIVAL OF THE LITTEST

The answer was right in front of you.

      Ya’ll forgot to stay lit!

    5. with all the old “real hip hop” heads bashing the fat joe & remy ma review and giving 5/5, i thought they would have more sales than that. guess i was wrong. “real hip hop” loses again.

    6. Misinformation in the article. Nicki actually posted the Yikes tweet before Shether came out. She hasn’t responded to Remy since. Article makes it seem as if Nicki clapped back already, but Shether came AFTER Nicki’s Yikes tweet.

    7. This website is ran by a barb because all the way up is double platinum and Nick responded by putting out no frauds which flopped the first week at 64k. Compared to her singles in the past this is not good.. also divide that up because everybody has to get they cut

    8. Remy. Ma is garbage to me all the way up went platinum do to the remix let’s be real. Bet owed her that award. Glad she got it hope she moves on from Nicki drama an get in where she got in she will never surpass Nicki but she may get some features that will help her career out. Listen Plato had some cool song’s but I had to laugh at Remy trying to sing on one song and just some of the bars were wack for today’s MUSIC. Thought young ma should of took that award but Remy is more known and she and how clown chance the rapper for beating them last year. The diss was hard but she talks of fake ass shots well Kim and her bestie cardi b got surgery as well so just fake shit. And she never got media or tv play for her MUSIC only to talk about Nicki and the beef more than her own music
