As the 2005-2006 season of the National Basketball Association kicked off, there are very few people that can say that they chose the Dallas Mavericks to face off with the Miami Heat for the championship at the end of the season. But low and behold this years series consisted of two teams that had never previously reached such an event.
As Game 1 arrived, there was a lot of talk that Miami would win this easily. And with Dallas taking the first two games, the talk deceased and quickly turned around. Faced with the thought of going down 3-0, Miami turned it around in Game 3 and came out victorious. With the experience of Veterans like Gary Payton and Alonzo Mourning alongside Shaquille O’ Neal and the third year phenom, Dwyane Wade, the Heat took control of the series and closed it out in Game 6 with 4 straight wins.
Finals MVP, Dwyane Wade, scored 36 points in the final game helping the Heat take their very first championship after 18 LONG years of defeat. Another player who came through in the clutch was Udonis Haslam. Putting together a double-double with 17 points and 20 rebounds, the power forward saved his best for last. Shooting a crucial jumper with 1:21 left to play to put the Heat up by 3 and pushing the game out of Dallas‘ reach.
Looking at the team celebrate, it’s an honor to be a basketball fan. Long time veterans Antoine Walker, Alonzo Mourning and Gary Payton finally get to feel the sensation of being the NBA Champions. Through countless years of dissapointment and undergoing a life-threatening kidney transplant, it was an awesome feelings seeing ‘Zo hold that trophy up
So at this time, HipHopDX would like to congrat the Miami Heat for taking the 2005-2006 NBA Championship. MIA stand up!
