With the release of his latest studio album, Big Sean has been making the media rounds. During one radio stop, the Detroit rapper explained a bit of the backstory behind him getting a Roc-A-Fella Records logo chain from Jay Z himself.

On Friday (Feb. 3), Big Sean stunted for the world and showed off the heavy duty jewelry on the same day his album I Decided. was digitally released. Sitting down with Power 105.1’s Angie Martinez, Sean opened up the 14-minute chat talking about how he got the icy chain, which he still seemed stunned by.

“[Jay Z] gave me the Roc-A-Fella chain, the big boy,” said Sean with a wide smile, while elaborating on the discussion beforehand. “He told me, ‘You earned it.’ He gave it to me and said, ‘You earned it.'”

Sean explained that the exchange took place in New York and while he tried to employ some modesty, it was beyond obvious the moment was big for him. Sean went on to discuss his fourth studio album, explaining that the digital-only release will be followed by physical copies in the coming days.
