Vince Staples is seemingly preparing his first release of 2017 in the form of “Bagbak.” The Long Beach rapper posted the cover art for the project to Instagram and Twitter today (January 31) with little information except a Friday (February 3) release date and an IG location of Ramona Park.
Staples released his Prima Donna EP last year with the title track featuring A$AP Rocky and an accompanying short film. He also received his first certification — a gold plaque from Australia’s ARIA — for his work on Flume’s “Smoke and Retribution.”
This followed up 2015 where Staples released his debut album, Summertime ’06. He was featured throughout HipHopDX’s Year End Awards with the project in contention for Album of the Year, while “Señorita” was runner-up for Video of the Year and Staples followed Kendrick Lamar as a runner-up for MC of the Year.
Stay tuned Friday to find out what Vince Staples has up his sleeve with “Bagbak” and catch him on his first headlining tour, The Life Aquatic Tour, this spring.
