Instagram has gone from a simple photo-sharing app to becoming a global performance stage. For Detroit’s own La’Britney, the social media platform is a useful showcase for every talent in her creative toolbox.

The short productions that she makes for the internet — called “La Mixes” — take her a few days to produce, but have succeeded in catching the attention of a few notables including 50 Cent and R. Kelly. Fiddy obviously appreciated her use of his Effen Vodka in her videos while Kellz enjoyed her rendition of his “Feeling On Yo Booty” single.

“I found this app that was a collage app that allowed me to create videos by piecing multiple videos together,” she explained to HipHopDX. “Then I did a couple of videos where I was just singing and thought it would be dope to recreate beats with household items. That’s how I started doing them. Just adding pieces of my talent into the ‘LA Mixes.’ Then, I started integrating choreography and dance. It went from me just singing with myself to me singing and creating the beats. It helped because you got to know me as an artist in 15 seconds.”

La’Britney has also gained support from other established veterans as well.

“Ashanti is one who always supports me and shows a lot of love,” she said. “Christina Milian is another one. Detroit artists always show love. I’ve been noticed by a lot of crazy talented people.”

Ensuring fans and listeners alike understand she’s a recording artist first, La’Britney has already released full music videos this year in preparation for her upcoming EP, Who Is La’Britney. Out the gate, she plans on revealing a very personal side to herself.

“This EP is filled with music that I wrote while and after I went through a breakup with someone I was with for 10 years,” she said about the project, which should see a tour as well. “With this music, you’ll be able to hear a vulnerable side of me and it’s just totally relatable music.”
