As Gnarls Barkley, DJ Danger Mouse and rapper/singer Cee-Lo have experienced success on a much higher level than they had previously been accustomed to. Now however, the success of their debut single Crazy seems to be too much of a hit for the duo, who have announced that they are to pull the plug on the track in order to concentrate on their next single release.
Crazy has been reigning supreme on the Official UK Singles Charts for nine weeks running, even breaking records in its first week of release when it became the first single to reach No.1 on digital sales alone.
In an odd turn of events, Gnarls Barkley released a statement this week stating that they are to delete the single so that the focus can shift to their new single, Smiley Faces, which is due for release in July.
“I consider myself a realist,” read the statement. “I suppose that goes for most of us. But I have found a way to at once hold them, fold them, walk away and run. This was not a painless decision. But pain is nothing but a bi-product of beauty. Potentially toxic, to be sure, but that’s all it is.”
