E-40, at the young age of 48, continues to be one of the most innovative rappers in the game, as well as an endless vault of slang. The Bay Area veteran set the record straight on how far the slang term “broccoli” goes back after some chatter between Kodak Black and Lil Yachty over its origin popped up earlier this week.

Forty Water posted a video to his Instagram page complete with a “broccoli” history lesson to boot. The “Choices” rapper’s caption to the post read, “In 1993 I refer weed as BROCCOLI On my song ” Practice Looking Hard ” In 1998 I made a song called ” BROCCOLI ” On my Gold double album ” The Element of Surprise ” #PROBLEMSOLVED #BROCCOLI Fuck beef get money!”

Kodak, who was born in 1997, wasn’t even on the planet when E-40 brought forth his vernacular.

While the 19-year-old could be forgiven for not knowing better, he should probably have some OGs that know this type of information and could help talk the Florida artist off the ledge for alleging D.R.A.M. and Lil Yachty’s double-platinum track stole from his own pile of self-proclaimed swag.

Kodak, who might want to focus on his current legal troubles, should realize by now he’s got a long way to go to catch up with E-40’s dizzying glossary of slang.
