Lupe Fiasco is gearing up to drop new music for the people, revealing the news when he tweeted that he’ll be releasing a track Monday night (December 5). Lupe promised to release the track “Killers”— which appears to be a video game-themed song teased earlier this year — if competitive gamer NuckleDu won a top Street Fighter tournament.

NuckleDu, real name Du Dang, vanquished the competition at this year’s Capcom Cup in Anaheim, Calif. over the weekend. The Street Fighter V contest featured 32 of the world’s best players and Lupe, no slouch on the Street Fighter sticks himself, was rooting for Dang who played for the Team Liquid crew. Lupe’s involvement and support of top players in the world of competitive gaming is well known.

Lupe followed with his own tweet.

A version of “Killers” came out a few months ago, which mentions the Street Fighter game and other related references.

While Lupe promised to release three albums this year before stepping away from music, there have been several delays to the impending Drogas, Drogas Light, and Skulls projects. In a HHDX article from October, we reported that Lupe’s albums were put on pause due to sample clearance and other behind-the-scenes issues.

Lupe remained adamant on Twitter that the projects wouldn’t be dropping before the end of the year.
