New York, New York

To celebrate the release of his newest Fool’s Gold single “Revenge (See How They Run)” featuring Ariel Pink, Theophilus London has announced a nationwide open call for emerging singers, songwriters and musicians to submit content via social media for the chance to win an all-expenses paid trip to New York City, one-on-one mentoring and the opportunity to join the artist in-studio during a recording session.

To support the open call, London has partnered with social entertainment network Clapit, where emerging talent can be discovered and amplified to the world via their mobile device. To apply, entrants upload original music performances using the hashtag #singit. The most clapped videos, ranked by the Clapit community, will be showcased on Clapit’s global “best” chart, and the submission with the most claps at the end of two weeks will be the winner. It’s essentially a democratic crowd-sourced voting system.

“I have been blessed with amazing mentors throughout my career so I look forward to being able to discover and acknowledge some of the country’s most promising young talent on Clapit,” said London in a press release. “It’s an authentic community of creatives, where we can support talent together. We’re out here scouting emerging artists, talents looking for their big break.”

To participate, musicians must be unsigned and the work must be previously unpublished. Short videos, of any length from five seconds to five minutes, showcasing a musical talent may be inspired by any musical genre. Entrants download Clapit for free from the iOS app store, shoot and upload their video, hashtag their entry #singit and then spread the word with friends asking them to vote using a clap. The open call wraps on Sunday, January 8.

“This open call challenge is a fantastic opportunity for Clapit users to get real feedback on their work from a musical icon – and one will be spending a day in New York City with Theophilus in the studio,” said Paul Bedwell, Clapit co-founder and CEO.
