Lil Yachty Isn’t Sure If He’ll Ever Listen To Tupac

Last week, Lil Yachty cleared up comments he made about Notorious B.I.G. where he referred to the Hip Hop legend as overrated.

The young rapper from Georgia went even further on Hot 97 host Ebro’s Beats 1 Radio Show on Monday, saying that he had now listened to Biggie’s entire back catalog, and he was “in the blind” when he called Biggie overrated.

However, when Ebro asked him if he had any intention to go back and listen to Tupac, Yachty didn’t seem too excited about the idea: “Maybe, I don’t know. I don’t know, I may. Not that I wouldn’t want to, just, hey. I’m busy.”

Lil Yachty did however hum the opening few notes of “Changes” (though he didn’t know what it was called) and said, “That song made me cry in the car one time.”

Yachty also took the time to fight back against his critics: “If I could I’d sit down with Lord Jamar. He was saying a nigga like me was destroying Hip Hop … He said my fans are dumb or something like that.”

“I want to know what makes you think that because last time I checked, out of all the new school rappers I’m the one pushing positivity, pushing no drugs, pushing no alcohol, doing Toys for Tots free shows, going to schools going to group homes and talking to the young men…”

Ebro showed a lot of respect for Lil Yachty’s willingness to talk about where he stands within Hip Hop culture, saying “I appreciate you man. What you doing right now is real grown man, you know that?”

As for the future, Yachty says he just wants to have fun. “I don’t wanna be in one box with it. I don’t wanna be just an artist. Like Lil B speaks at colleges. I wanna be able speak at colleges, I wanna be able to act. Whatever my mind wants to do, I want to be able to do it with no judgment.”

    1. As an older head i was ready to lambast this dude in the comments, once I read the headline. I seriously was like this asshole says even more stupid shit yet again? But after reading it, I have to say i was like ok, word. He’s young and he’s learning. I had no idea he was doing as much positive out there as he mentioned. Made me check myself for a moment. We’re never too old or young for growth & learning. I hope he continues to do so & hope the same for myself as far as keeping an open mind on some of these new guys. Even when they may talk crazy time to time…

      1. Honestly, I try to keep an open mind for these new cats but rarely do I come across something I like. I try then always pop in something from the 90s then I come back down to earth. The skill and beat level are on a whole other level and these new cats only mumble for money.

      2. Everything up till this moment this guys done has annoyed me to the point of needing a Stress Shit.
However, Everyone does and says dumb shit when we are young. He didn’t know, now he does. He took note of his critics points and educated himself instead of acting like yet another dumb ass. I give him props for that.

      1. And also said he’s being positive, but on the same song, he said he’ll turn a place into Columbine and talks about throwing bows…

    2. Play him “Ambitionz of a Ridah”, “Dear Mama”, “All Eyez On Me” or “Picture Me Rollin'”. If he can’t vibe to one of those records, he’s seriously lost.

    3. The industry is pushing this imbecile hard trying to destroy Hip Hop. Go listen to his “song” 1 Night where he actually SINGS. Ebro is a fucking sell out and so is DX. There is literally NO DEMAND for this guys’ music and he hasn’t sold one record yet. He doesnt even have an album out! Kanye exposed these fake fucks on his last concerts he said how the INdustyr pays Radio to play this BS all day.

    4. Well how the fuck am i supposed to sleep tonight not knowing if lil yachty’s going to go back n listen to some tupac?
