PARTYNEXTDOOR has been enjoying a winning 2016 and has no plans in slowing down his progressively improving ascension. In a recent interview with Toronto’s NOW Magazine, the rising Canadian star shared details of the early portions of his career and revealed that he wants to produce a bevy of tracks for Drake much like Kanye West did for Jay Z.

The 23-year-old artist born Jahron Brathwaite sat down with NOW and covered a great deal on the rapper and songwriter’s success with the release of his second studio album, PARTYNEXTDOOR 3. The record hit the top of the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop charts this year, joining fellow countryman Drake, who dominated the U.S. Billboard 200 Albums chart with his fourth studio record, VIEWS.

Speaking of Drake, PARTYNEXTDOOR hopes to provide a bevy of soundscapes for his OVO Sound boss Drizzy, and he’s got proven chops as a collaborator and creative agent after penning Rihanna’s smash “Work” single and its B-side, “Sex With Me.” He also provided backup vocals on Drake’s 2013 album Nothing Was The Same and produced three tracks on his 2015 mixtape If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late.

While PARTYNEXTDOOR doesn’t want to dial down his aims to be a standout act on his own, his ambitions stretch much farther than solo work.

“I competitively want to produce just as many records for Drake as Kanye West did for Jay Z,” he said. “I want to write just as much as Kanye may have for whomever Kanye has written for. I want to do as much as I can do while I’m young.”

PARTYNEXTDOOR, who hails from Mississauga, just outside of Toronto, says he’s focusing on a joint project with R&B singer Jeremih titled Late Night Party and the two are still on their Summer’s Over tour with weekend stops in Canada.
